At K15t, we are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our workplace and beyond. As part of this commitment, we are proud to announce that we are participating in the Girls’ Day initiative.

Girls’ Day and Equity

Girls’ Day is an annual event that offers girls from all over Germany the opportunity to learn about different professions and fields, especially those in underrepresented fields.

According to Women Tech Network, women hold just 28% of all jobs in computer and mathematical occupations, and 15.9% of jobs in engineering and architecture occupations. We recognize that girls and women in many cases do not have the same starting opportunities in STEM, and by participating in Girls’ Day, we hope in a small way to help bridge this gap by spending the day introducing girls to the world of software development. The girls will experience the day in a girls-only group, making it possible to try things out in an open and collaborative space.

What’s On the Girls’ Day Agenda?

Here’s what we have planned for our visitors:

  • Meet and greet: Start the day by getting to know one another, and listen to everything about our company, our history, and answer any initial questions.

  • Conversations with K15t coders: A face-to-face with our app developers who will share their journeys in the software space. For example: Why did they choose this profession? What barriers did they face as a woman in IT? What does a typical day look like?

  • Lunch: A delicious lunch awaits the girls right around the corner at Kulturwerk, where they’ll also meet the rest of the team.

  • Get our hands dirty: Finally, we’ll work together to solve some exciting programming tasks and see what app development looks like in the real world.

K15t is proud to be participating in Girls’ Day and we hope that through this initiative, we’re able to inspire new journeys in the exciting world of software development.

Sounds Exciting to You?

This initiative is just one of the many ways that K15t gives back to our community. If you’re passionate about software and knowledge sharing and are looking for a career in an environment like ours, let us know!
