#97 - Rovo Now Supports Scenarios and Skills
In this issue, we dive into the latest Rovo Studio surprises and explore how Scenarios and Skills can supercharge your agents.
Sooner Than We Thought
Last week, we were still in the dark about when those shiny new Rovo Studio features would actually land. No official announcements, no blog posts, just a lot of anticipation. But then, something unexpected happened: we spotted Scenarios and Skills quietly appearing in our own Rovo instance!
Naturally, we had to dive in and see what’s new. Here’s what we found—and why it matters for your team.
Your Agent’s New Superpowers
Ever wished your Rovo Agent could do more than just one thing? Now it can! Atlassian has rolled out two game-changing features:
Scenarios: Define what your agent does in different contexts.
Each scenario includes a trigger (when it should act), instructions (what to do), knowledge (what it knows), and skills (what it can do).
You can have a default scenario for everyday tasks, and special ones that activate under specific conditions.
You can add as many scenarios as you need. Each scenario is triggered by a specific event, keyword, or context (for example, when a page is published, a ticket is created, or a certain phrase is used).
Skills are specific actions your agent can perform, such as creating a Jira work item, publishing a Confluence page, sending a Slack message, or searching for similar tickets. When you set up your agent, you choose which skills it should have, so it’s tailored to your team’s needs. Skills can be Atlassian-native or third-party. Using Forge, you can even create your own Skills for your Rovo agent.
A Rovo Agent for Every Team
Let’s imagine a scenario (pun intended!) that could spark some fun and improvement across any team. You hit “Publish” on a Confluence page and just a few moments later, someone called “Challenge Me” starts playing devil’s advocate in the comments section, pointing out anything from typos to logical gaps….
“Challenge Me” is our own Rovo agent, a digital teammate that helps everyone improve their Confluence pages and documentation. Read our article to take a closer look at our little nagger and other Rovo agents that we use at K15t.
Rovo Web Search Integration
Rovo now offers the option to include web results in your chat responses, blending your internal knowledge with up-to-date information from the internet. This can be a real boost when you need broader context or the latest facts, not just what’s stored in your workspace. It’s an opt-in feature, so you stay in control, but keep in mind that web-sourced answers may need a critical eye for accuracy and relevance.
Loop Automation for Power Users
Atlassian has introduced a new loop automation feature for Jira and Confluence, but it’s only available on Premium and Enterprise plans. This addition lets you run rule components in a loop (up to three times), making advanced workflows more flexible and powerful. For teams managing complex processes, this could save time and reduce manual steps.
